This seamlessly organised 8-day Tahiti explorer package is based at a comfortable, 3-star guesthouse just a 25-minute drive from the coastal centre of Papeete, and the perfect base for active island discovery.
Fill your days with exciting adventures to hidden attractions. You will trek through lush rainforests, head off-road on a 4WD safari, and board a Tahiti Iti boat excursion for legendary Teahupoo wave watching. Between excursions, enjoy swimming in crystal-clear lagoons, relaxing by the pool, and tasting local cuisine at Papeete’s famous food trucks.
Day 1
Arrive Papeete and collect your rental car. Drive to your ’pension’ (guesthouse) set in tropical gardens and ideally located opposite a beautiful white-sand beach.
Day 2 Tahiti island tour
Spend the day exploring the island by rental car.
Day 3 Museum visit, Snorkelling Excursion by boat, Marquesan dinner and dance show
In the morning we suggest a visit to the Museum of Tahiti & Her Islands. In the afternoon join a 4-hour snorkelling excursion by boat amongst shipwrecks and many marine species. Top the day off with a Marquesan dinner and dance show.
Day 4 4WD safari
Cross the island of Tahiti Nui on a thrilling 4WD safari. This is a complete immersion in Tahiti’s geology, culture and heavenly landscapes.
Day 5 AOA Polynesian Forests
This off-the-beaten-track activity takes you through a protected 300-hectare estate, where you will discover the local flora and fauna.
Day 6 Optional Vaitavere hike
Enjoy a 4-hour hike near your guesthouse then spend the afternoon relaxing at the beach.
Day 7 Tahiti Iti boat excursion
Eexperience the wild beauty of Tahiti Iti, nicknamed “Jurassic” because of its spectacular volcanic scenery. See the legendary Teahupo’o wave, swim in crystal-clear turquoise waters, and explore caves and secluded beaches.
